• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

XTS 3000 programming fail

I was programming my XTS 3000 with CPS when I tried to write my codeplug--it threw "Communication with the Radio Failed," and since then the radio has been failing Self-Test with the error code: FAIL 01/92. I tried writing a saved codeplug to the radio, but CPS gave me:

"The radio codeplug being written is set to INHIBITED! This means that this radio has been shut down by dispatch. You can only uninhibit the radio from the dispatch or with a Depot Tool."

I did not program the radio to operate on any trunked systems and do not even key it up outside of work. I don't think the cord got unplugged during write but I can't be 100% sure. The battery definitely didn't die. Am I screwed, or can I salvage my radio?

It's an old radio who's time is probably up. You could try to revive it but I'm not sure it's worth the time or effort.

If you replace the 3000 with a 2500 or 5000, be aware that while the 3000's programming cable will physically fit onto a 2500/5000, it's a different cable and won't work.

I just went from a 3000 to a 5000. Much better radio. And about the same price as a 3000 anyway.

HOW DO I turn that OFF Please I'm using R05.03 Of the cps on a WIN XP with SP 2 and a motorola 4008 programmer

Clear TX alert tone? It got me a couple times. Meaning the transmission is in the clear/not encrypted. Just a thought

Check to see if you have MDC1200 PTT ID enabled.
