• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a strange problem with my XTS2500. Whenever I try to listen to Riverdale FD with a PL it won't decode audio. But when I take the PL out into CSQ it works fine. And yes I have the right PL so don't think that is wrong. PL is 192.8 and I change back and forth with FPP but no matter what it refuses to decode with a PL. I get interference and the repeater ID with no PL so if this is fixable I would like to know how.

When was the last time the radio was given a tuneup?

Which frequency are you talking about, the 472 dispatch or the 475 fireground? I assume that you've verified the PL using a scanner or another radio? Are you sure that you didn't accidentally enable QCII decoding or something else on this channel that's keeping the squelch closed despite a correct PL tone?

PS - Mentioning "Riverdale FD" in the Motorola forum is not very helpful when most don't know that you're located in NJ

All of my radios are programmed with the PL except the XTS is the only one giving me the problem. I will double check the QCII

And you are right. I should have specified that

I would definitely check with another radio, assuming you have another UHF2 you can test with. That would at least help you confirm or rule out an issue with the XTS 2500, depending on the results. If it winds up being something that is only affecting that radio, then dig deeper.

No QCII and only an MDC system decoding on it. I have another XTS2500 that I can confirm with

Ha, it's usually something simple to overlook. If I had a dollar for every dumb little setting I breezed right by a dozen times before finally realizing...
