xts2500 ptt

I own a number of Motorola radios, I really like the xts2500 however I hate the PTT button, instead of a "click" it more of a "squish"
I have to really push to get it to tx. Is the case replacement have a different PTT keyer?

Stupid, I know, but i have been using moto gear since the mt500 and I really like the "click" feel of the PTT button....

Nope the XTS2500s never really had a good positive click

APX radios are significantly better, but thats obviously out of price range for most people

The XTS2500 BN's there was a bulletin out to replace the PTT paddles, I had a bag of them years ago but can't find it. The ANs always had a rubber PTT and only way to change that was a new housing.

I have replaced buttons on them, the BN version plastic vs rubber AN, as the plastic paddle wears it becomes more of a squish and then eventually cracks, as mts2000des referenced the tsb, the early BN button were thin and you can feel the areas that would eventually crack as it wore down and lost its crispness. Try a new button that hasn't been broken in and you might get it back to what you're looking for. My current 2500s after a new button has a very nice firm crisp click

Sorry to bring this up after so long but my ptt button on my XTS 2500 also broke. Can I replace just the plastic ptt button without having to replace the whole entire case? I have not seen any videos on how to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes the paddles are replaceable

Thanks for the response looking at the plastic ptt paddle looks like its going to be a really tight fit hopefully the tabs wont break

Ive replaced dozens and its a snug fit but I have yet to have any break on me.

You have to really want to break the ptt paddle for them tabs to break. They are commonly cheaper to just buy a pack anymore if you find them. Only other time they break is when they come off a highly used life radio or a china refurb housing. If you have a Chinese housing clone just remove the ptt paddle those come with and replace it. They are all like that. Only other fix for them ones is to build the inside of the paddle up with either a epoxy or glue, or plastic weld more meat on the center of the backside of it.
