• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My XTS3000 has been acting funny since I had taken it OOB. It will only RX channels with a PL tone or CSQ while scanning. If the channel has a DPL it will not pick it up. When I turn the scan off I have no problems listening to the station. I never thought anything of it before, but now I am starting to get a little frustrated trying to figure it out. Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,

Not a diagnosis, just a suggestion:

Radios behave funny sometimes when taken out of their spec band. It is entirely possible that your deviation is no longer symmetrical.

Asymmetrical deviation, if not excessive, may well not be detectable when listening to analog voice or decoding analog PL. However, digital signals have a limited tolerance for non-spec waveforms, and asymmetrical deviation tends to introduce slumps in a digital waveform. Motorola has a section on this in the service manual for one of its products (Quantar, I believe, but I'm doing this from memory).

That makes sense, but it doesn't explain why it only happens while in scan. If my deviation was no longer symmetrical wouldn't this mean I wouldn't get the DPL at all? I also changed all instances of 470 in the CPS to 520 could this have caused the problem?

He's referring to 470 mHz and 520 mHz, and if he's reworked the radio to the upper limit without retuning the radio completely then anything is possible in the negative sense. Bit banging a digital radio does not mean the radio works properly even though the PLL may appear to be functioning correctly.

Yup thats what I was referring to maybe when I get the time I will go through again and change all the values to see if this is the problem. If not I am just gonna sell it considering it isn't really of any use anymore. If anybody thinks of a solution it would be much appreciated.
