If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an XTS5000 codeplug that has all of the frequencies blank and in red? 100% conventional codeplug. Any help?

Thanks,

Jim

You can't remove the frequency totally from the Channel Assignment tab. At a minimum it has to have a default frequency in that that conforms to the proper bandsplit.

I remember this same thing happening to me. All conventional frequencies were blank, and the blank box would not allow freqs to be entered, but rather it turned into a drop down box allowing you to select default freqs from VHF/UHFL/UHFH/800.

Unfortunally I can not remember what I did to make the codeplug do this or what I did to correct it. I do remember it was something easy. I would post this question on BL, as I got the answer from there.

Good luck

Then click on Options
Then Click Frequency Options tab
At the bottom there is an option called enbale frequency picklist. Uncheck the box
You will have to reopen the codeplug
Now you can enter the frequency directly.

^-----Cha-Ching! Yep, what he said. I had this happen to me, and took me a while to figure WTF was going on. To make matters worse is uninstalling the CPS and reinstalling it doesn't reset this setting.

What would this option be used for in the first place?
