Maybe we should just sit back and see what sort of dumb move Motorola makes next.
First they figure they don't need low band radios anymore. So they shut off the flow of new products in that frequency range.
Then the other radio companies maintain a low band radio product.
Then the efforts of Motorola to get all the existing low band customers to move to 800 MHz doesn't pay off. Customers are smarter than the Motorola sales force. They stay on their existing low band channels. However, they do need a source of replacement radios.
Motorola now figures out they still need a low band radio of current production. So they go out and make a deal to buy part of Vertex. Out comes the PM1200 radio that sure looks like a current product from Vertex. They put a different rear end on it to mate with the current Motorola cables. They also come out with a half xxx attempt at some software to program the radio with something that is suppose to look like the current software of other Motorola products. Problem is the software doesn't make the grade and the techs hate it. Simple thing like have an indication on the control panel that you manually put the radio into low power doesn't exist. Sure it says low power for a few seconds and then goes away. Good going Motorola software geeks. You have come out with a fine failure again.
Yup, it will be interesting to see what the next page in the on going saga will be from Motorola.
