Yaesu: Yaesu FT-10DX SSB Set Up Help

I have purchased a Yaesu FT-10DX and I’m trying to get it set up and this is a major transition for me since I have been using a Yaesu FT-2000 for the past 15 years. My issue is that I’m trying to get everything set up for SSB operation and when trying to set the ALC to the proper level I’m getting absolutely no movement on the ALC scale. I have adjusted the Mic Gain from 0 to 100 and still no movement. I have tried two different microphones one being the hand Mic that came with the rig and also a Yaesu MD-100 and still no deflection of the meter. I have had success at setting the AMC and Speech Processor levels with no problems. Also I am getting some power out but only about 15 watts at peak. I have tried different bands and have used a dummy load but still no deflection on the meter for ALC. I’m sure its probably a setting that I have missed but I don’t know where to look. Any ideas?
