If you dropped it on the volume control end then you may well have damaged the volume potentiometer. Fortunately it is pretty easy to change and the parts aren't pricey.

Oh I know, that's the first thing I thought of even though I didn't see exactly where it hit.

So yes, as I mentioned in the first post, I ordered a brand new VR-board (which obviously has a new volume potentiometer on it) from Yaesu but it didn't fix the problem.

No.. Like a soldering iron.. 25 watt, Small tip, with very little solder on it..

Its most likely a broken resistor.. If it were a coupling cap that broke, it typically wouldn't have any audio

I ordered the ceramic disc and filter from Motorola. Took a while but they finally arrived.

First changed the ceramic disc as it looked cracked.

Yep, that fixed it. Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. Appreciate it.
