Having memory banks and changing them while driving could lead to a disaster.
It could. However, on my Kenwood TM-D710, I usually picked what group I wanted to scan before I started driving and then left it there until I was stopped. If I wanted to change groups while in motion, I could have programmed one of the two Programmable Function keys on the front panel or four Programmable Function keys on the microphone for GROUP UP which would let me cycle through the groups easily.
