Yagi Six Element Wind Loading Problem

I have a Yagi scanner antenna and have a wind loading problem. Twice in the last two storms the antenna has shifted on the pole. I was thinking of placing a piece of rubber between the pole and mount to add friction, has anyone tried this and does it work.

Is the pole or mast you're using too small in diameter for the mount on the antenna to have the proper clamping force? Depending on the size and weight of the antenna in question, your idea of a shim as a "filler" just may work... give it a try.

The pole is 2 inches in diameter, I had thought about putting a piece of rubber when I was originally installing the antenna. I am going to give it a try. Thanks.

When that doesn't work and/or the rubber shreds due to UV exposure, go to Amateur radio clamps & fasteners at DX Engineering to find a proper clamp that's sized for your application that will really grab that pole.

Some clamps have have steps on one side of the clamp that face the mounting pole. They look a bit like teeth that bit into the mast. You might look for these. - They're less likely to spin on the mast.

Well once I got up on the roof to check the antenna mounting bracket, I discovered it wasn't the problem. It was the top section of the mast. I have five section mast and all but the top section is secured from rotating. So I used a piece of rubber and three hose clamps to secured that section. I will see how it works in the next storm that comes through. I guess if that doesn't work I will try to installed metal brace where it connects. Thanks for the help.
