I think most Yahoo groups have moved to FB or groups.io, I know we moved our DX group in early 2019.

Nope, there are still many an active Yahoogroup out there, who had hopes that Yahell would keep running it.
Now many are closing down and/or moving to Google Groups or Groups IO

Personally I have found the quality on FB groups to be fairly low, groups.io seem more "mature"...

I owned a Dial-up BB called Magic Crystal It started out with just some friends on it, within about 6 months i was averaging around three to four hundred calls per month.. My first dial-up site was Prodigy, own by CBS, IBM, and Sears. We sure have come along way. Before the WWW the company that I worked for used ARPANET, does anyone remember using Veronica and Archie?

I'm quite sure that this is a group by group thing - the FB groups I belong to are, for the most part, very much on topic and not much fluff is tolerated...Mike

Groups - whether it be Message Boards [RR, Interceptor, SNE and the many others], YahooGroups, Groups IO, Google Groups, Microsoft Teams and FacePlant [err CrapBook] - all vary based on the ownership/moderators as well as members. There are those [varies by group] who WANT [lurkers] others to do the research and submissions and only belong to sponge, then there are others who actively contribute [and this applies not just to our Hobby]
