Hello to all. I ordered one of these antennas thinking it would work with different radios, such as Icom R75, Sony ICF 2010, etc for general coverage, I.e. broadcast band, shortwave. When I hooked up to these radios reception was not there. Apparently these antennas work fine on SDR radios. My question is, are SDR radios totally more sensitive than regular desktop receivers? Also why regular radios can NOT be as sensitive as SDR radios? I just don’t get it! Maybe someone can clarify this for me.

Yes, SDRs on HF have a very hot front end - too hot in many cases. That, and the fact that there is very little front end filtering on the cheap SDRs makes them often too hot. It is, however, dicey to compare a desktop's sensitivity to a SDR

Did you try kicking in the R75 preamp when you had in connected? Remember, the YouLoop is passive in nature. I hear tell that there are folks working on an amp for this little antenna...Mike
