zip code search is best ...

So far I cant seem to locate and or create any favorites lists in sentinel that are better (or even active), then what I get on "zip code scan " what can I do to improve my "favorites"/searches from sentinel ? what am I missing ?

ps seems to be more channels available here then in updated sentinel , I dunno

What ever is listed in the Radio Reference database that your scanner can monitor is in Sentinel.... provided that you have the latest Sentinel database update. There may be a few recent additions to the RR database within the week since the last Sentinel update, but those will be available in Sentinel the following Monday.

Check the date of your database in the scanner (through the scanner's menu system) to be sure the latest database updates are actually in your scanner.

guess i need to look a little harder , I did find the highway patrol golden gate division and added to a favorite list and its all but silent when i listen ?

Check to see what service types you have turned on in the scanners profile. (Edit profile)

I tried that also and it’s interesting when I checked service types for anew favorites list ,a lot of the options were just 3 dashes with no on /off option?

What scanner are you using?

If you see "---" for the service types, it means that nothing you have selected for scanning contains any service types of that designation.

Besides the possible Service Types issue, when you 'added' the highway patrol's 'golden gate division', did you add them by appending from the main database? Or did you manually enter the frequencies (or import via ARC536 or ProScan). If you manually added them, did you also enter the location information for them? If not, and you are using location control on the Favorites list, the scanner may be considering them as out of range. If the location information is not present, the location defaults to zero degrees for both latitude & latitude. That location. 0" lat/0"long, is off the Atlantic coast of Africa, and is well out of range, so it would be ignored.

If you appended from the main database in Sentinel, the location details would have been carried over into your list.


Of course, you can always double check your profile in Sentinel & make sure that the location and range accurately reflect what you want.
