I feel like I keep reading the same thing over and over again and dealing with claimants at work saying the same thing to them over and over again. Those of us who ordered from zip were lied to. They were the only vendor who said they had physical stock after they filled preorders and we were given the song and dance that they would ship once they had programming done because they had the stock.

I love all of the know it all Monday morning quarterbacks on this forum. Y’all can blow me.

Keep whining and crying like a little child who dropped her lollipop in the dirt. That should make your scanner show up quicker!

Look back at my posts. I’m not whining about it as I’ve stated several times I could care less when it shows up.

Case in point, just another forum full of Monday morning quarterbacks.

cancelled my Zipscanner order

I had trouble getting in contact with Zipscanners today. I emailed and called 3 times before they got back to me with a story that my order was flagged for some reason. This has never happened before and when they wanted a copy of my drivers license, I cancelled the order. They said a refund will take 3-5 business days.
Then I may order from an established dealer who uses UPS and has the radio in stock.

I ordered my SDS 100 from Bearcat Warehouse. They were awesome. I called when I ordered, they told me when they expected shipment and I placed my order with them. The verified my address and delivered early and I received my scanner today when shipment was expected on Monday. Never did they promise anything that was not delivered.

I have also ordered from ZipScanners and Scanner Master - all excellent service for small businesses. I prefer to support small business, maybe I am old fashioned.

I have had so many scanners over the years and am glad the hobby is still going strong.

Very impressed with the SDS 100 so far. Build quality is excellent and reception is markedly superior over the other scanners that I have. Great job Uniden for continuing innovation with scanners.

My issue is that I had opened a chat session with Zipscanners on Wednesday, and was told the SDS100 was in stock and ready to ship Thursday. Not sure why it would ship Thursday when it was (allegedly) in stock on Wednesday, but then again I don't know their back-of -the-house processes. I was OK with that. Fast forward to this evening, 8:30pm EST, and my tracking number still reflects Pre-Shipment status. Not cool.

Same here. But I did get an email around mid day today saying they now had stock in their Minneapolis MN warehouse, and that the delayed orders would ship out today (Fri. 6-8). My tracking status has not changed yet either, but my experience is that the tracking info from USPS sometimes lags behind by as much as 24 hours.

Same here. i ordered Tues(June 5) after pulling up the chat window and asking point-blank if they had them in stock (otherwise I would have ordered from other places that still had them in stock). Early this morning after receiving all of their updates and stories about the missing shipment yesterday they once again assured us that the units had arrived and were being shipped out this morning with the same tracking numbers. Mine still shows the status of "Pre-shipment". They also stopped answering their phones hours ago.

What a nightmare. Their reputation is now down the toilet. All because of greed and dishonesty.

I think the point of this thread is that the dealer lied to everyone about having stock when in fact they did not. Shipping logistics aside, the dealer is dishonest. He promised something he couldn't 'deliver' and was never able to without a gamble that he lost.

How is Uniden’s MAP, support the small scanner dealer system working out for you early adopters? Time for some more popcorn.....

I ordered Tuesday night and got the same shipping email, then oops not email.

Perspective and composure people... Zip is way better than all those times Amazon missed "guaranteed" deliveries without warning or notification. Zip actually emailed me in advance to give me a delay heads up and then followed up with progress updates. Still no shipment, but hey, this is still way better customer service than Amazon and most small online ships who don't even set your expectations. Good job Zip!

Is everyone complaining on this thread 14 years old making their first online purchase? I always imagined scanner people were bored grey old men like me. :)

What gets me laughing is the multitudes of people who don't understand how automated shipping notifications work - is this the first time they've ever ordered anything online???

Seems to me Uniden could've worked a deal with Amazon and sold a bunch of SDS100s with Prime Same-Day and Prime One-Day and avoided some of the insolent children and their temper tantrums

Seems to me that some people are not able to understand that a dealer stated that they had units in stock and essentially ready to ship, when in fact, they did not. In commercial law, that would be characterized as misrepresentation (if done so innocently) or fraud (if done so knowingly.) Legal lesson over.

I understand the automated shipping details, I am cool with delays, no big deal. What I am not cool with is having a vendor blatantly lie to me. That is unacceptable and totally avoidable by being honest and straight forward.

End of rant.

Update: Tracking status was updated 11:01PM CT, package at St Paul Distribution Center. Delivery expected Monday.

Seems to be a forum full of *******s that still don’t get the point of what’s happened here and once again the issue isn’t the product showing up late... but hey to each his own.

One other factor, some distributors will ship on behalf of the dealer (especially for brand new high-demand items). In that case, "in stock" could actually mean in stock at the distributor. It is quite possible that Zip was relying on information they were getting from their distributor that was unclear and subject to misinterpretation by Zip (leading them to believe it was ready to ship when the distributor was actually not ready to ship). I believe Zip has a single location, so when they "ship" from anywhere other than Minnesota, it is likely the distributor shipping on their behalf.


Note: I have no direct knowledge that this is what happened in this case, but it is a reasonable guess. I do know for a fact that their primary distributor does this for some of their other dealers. These guys have been doing a great job supporting the business, from review and training videos to banner advertising to scanner programming and direct product support. I am more than inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. Well, I would be even more inclined if they would change their opinion of 2018 scanner of the year. :)
