I am getting ready to program an LTR system into my TRX-2 with the Whister software. This particular system has three sites and separate talkgroups for each site. I remember reading somewhere that LTR (as well as EDACS) systems would need to be programmed with each site as a separate system. I understand how that would make sense on the more traditional GRE radios like the Pro-97, etc, however on the TRX-1 and TRX-2 radios, this seems to be unnecessary. I get that you cannot have duplicate LCNs for a system, but the radio "seems" to handle each site separately.
If it is true that the sites should be entered as separate systems, why does the software attempt to add additional sites to the same system? And if this is not the case, and it is okay to have multi-site LTR systems programmed, does the scanner scan each site one after another, since there is no dedicated control channel to compare signal strength on?
