Hi
Normally not using this feature but playing with it today:
Assuming your have more than three custom searches programmed it appears that when activating this feature it defaults to S+S on the last used of the first three custom searches that are programmed.
I.e. once you press Custom Search it gives you no menu option to select which search, it just starts searching right away. Then if you have say a custom search #9, is that not search and search and storable? Kind of pointless if you can't access the others and need to do the work manually....

You only have the three searches searches accessible directly from the keypad, by pressing Function, then selecting 1, 2, or 3.

However, you have another ten definable searches accessible via Custom Search. These can be tagged with a quick key for easy access whaile scanning.

If using FreeSCAN, these can be found under the Custom Search tab when you go into the Set Scanner Options item under the 'Scanner' drop-down menu.
Here it is in FreeSCAN:

Thanks, Steve

Yes it is exactly those remaining 7 I am talking about. In other words I cannot use "search and store" on those, right? Weird philosophy. So I must put the bands I am actively looking for new channels into these three first ones and the ones I only leisurely search on in the remaining ones. Rather odd limitation. I mean the three searches with the search keys idea is kind of OK otherwise.
On the remaining 7 I then need to be present and add found channels manually to the memory. Hmmm, I think I need to reconfigure these custom searches. Using Proscan and maybe that allows an equivalent function to S+S. As Proscan is equally complex and the documentation is lacking a bit one needs to delve deeper into that.

ProScan or any software can't change the functionality of the scanner. Only firmware can do that.

Sure but it could perhaps write some channels to a file.
