Is it odd to see a crane operation for a construction company utilizing FRS/GMRS frequencies using DMR?
Just today I'm picking up multiple channels that sounds very much like crane operations. All using CC1 all using Talkgroup 1.
We do have a multi unit high end apartment complex being constructed across town. So to hear chatter for this sort of stuff isn't odd but the choice of frequencies being used does.
The same company or perhaps another involved in all this although sound similar are using other UHF channels but in analog.
I also have another construction company in town here doing road construction and their flaggers are all using FRS with different tones every few days. There doesn't seem to be interference between them. I'm located between both operations. Both operations are within about 1-3 km's from me. (Yes, I live in a fairly small town. )
I will also say, yes, I'm sure to most, this sort of stuff is mundane. Which it very much is. However, I've never actually heard real crane operations before all this construction on these apartments started. So to hear this is kinda interesting. This is really the first time these types of large cranes have been in our town.
