When entering a Capacity Plus or Connect Plus site, does each frequency need to be entered one or twice, once for each LCN?

Like this:
471.6500, LCN 1
471.6500, LCN 2
472.5250, LCN 3
472.5250, LCN 4
472.7875, LCN 5
472.7875, LCN 6
Or this:
471.6500, LCN 1
472.5250, LCN 3
472.7875, LCN 5

I'm unable to enter a frequency twice on the same site...it says "frequency exists, Press any key."

DMR Operation is programmed either as DMR One Frequency or MotoTRBO. These should not hang on data.

Right. Each frequency once. LCN 1, 2, and 3.

Thank you, Paul. I'm having very little luck on a Cap+ system here. I get an occasional talkgroup, but never a full conversation. I know you mentioned that Cap+ reception is still a work in progress, so I'll be patient :)

He did say cap systems still have issues

Oh, don't worry. Had that on "speed dial" for days (I actually dug up the "changes" page so I can see what changes between revs). :p

I'd like to know what the changes are on the TWiki page - could you direct us to this page?

Thanks,
Dave

CAP+ in my area I get 2 freqs and I hear 1-3 TG's. Only problem I have picking up is the CON+ I don't get nothing even with lcn auto correction.

OMG I feel like giving up, I am referring to any scan/search mode where you end up on a DMR frequency including custom search, which currently stalls forever on some Cap+ systems.

Borrow an AOR DV1 and see how much better the search is than the Uniden implementation if you can't understand my point.

Sorry but I don't get what is the problem to program the DMR channel as DMR One Frequency once you find it during Custom Search? I agree with the current implementation, there is a logic in it... Custom Search or Conventional Scan modes should stop on ANY activity. These are not intended to follow DMR systems but to discover and identify new frequencies... (and you can still use the negative delay).

I programmed in four local amateur radio repeaters in the Tarrant County, Texas area. Each repeater is a DMR One-Frequency System. I already knew the Color Codes, so I hard coded those in. I added one Department to each system and placed four known Talkgroups in each system's single Department. I'm too lazy to add the others as programming manually is a pain! But I added TGID 1 Worldwide, TGID 2 Local / Metro, TGID 3 North America, and TGID 3148 Texas Startewide. I abbreviated the names though, because programming manually is a pain. For each system I turned Search IDs to ON so it will scan both the known TGIDs I added and the unknown ones it finds. It works fairly well, though it is slow to scan the DMR One-Frequency Systems as opposed to the extremely fast scanning of the same repeaters I added to a single Conventional System. I have noticed that a few of the TGIDs it has discovered through Search ID seem to be bogus as I cannot locate them in the DMR-MARC database, but that could be because they were never added to the database. However, I keep getting TGID 8888 displayed rather than TGID 3 for North America when it appears to be TGID 3 North America that is being used. But it might not be TGID 3 NA since my TYT MD-380 is not identifying the TGID either, although I've heard callers say they were on "North America". So who knows...

I've tried to do the same as you (some amateur, some public safety) and *very* occasionally I will get a hit and find a new TG. *Very* occasionally. Tomorrow, I'm bringing my borrowed CS750 with me to compare reception of the local DMR UHF amateur repeater (about 1.5 mi from my desk) on the two receivers. I suspect that the CS750 will be just fine (because I've brought it to work many times) while the 436 will act as if nothing is happening. But we'll see.

I wonder if it's possible that the 436 and 536 have slightly different firmware? For the life of me I can't get UID to display in DMR One Frequency System mode. But there it is in living color on W5JCK's YouTube video. Hrm.

I haven't installed it on my BCD436HP so I'm not sure. But here is how I programmed my DMR One Frequency Systems, I hope this helps:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
06 DMR K5FTW Fort Worth (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

06 K5FTW Site (440.5375)

61 K5FTW Dept

TGID 1, Worldwide (WW)
TGID 2, Local
TGID 3, North America (NA)
TGID 3148, Texas Statewide (Texas)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
07 DMR KN5TX Venus (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

07 KN5TX Site (441.7250)

71 KN5TX Dept

TGID 1, Worldwide (WW)
TGID 2, Local
TGID 3, North America (NA)
TGID 3148, Texas Statewide (Texas)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
08 DMR W5HK Colleyville (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

08 W5HK Site (440.6625)

81 W5HK Dept

TGID 1, Worldwide (WW)
TGID 2, Local
TGID 3, North America (NA)
TGID 3148, Texas Statewide (Texas)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
09 DMR N5GMJ Saginaw (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

+1

IMO... If I am searching or conventional scanning, I want the scanner to stop on anything that breaks squelch and stay there until I move on or hit AVOID.

Since the DV-1 doesn't trunk, I can see why that feature might be useful... but not on a trunking scanner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
06 DMR K5FTW Fort Worth (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

06 K5FTW Site (440.5375, 314822)

61 K5FTW Dept

TGID 1, Worldwide (WW)
TGID 2, Local
TGID 3, North America (NA)
TGID 3148, Texas Statewide (Texas)
...

Totally the way to go right now, with the firmware in its current state. From my experience with the beta firmware so far, programming multiple One Frequency Systems gets you the best results.

Utltimately, I would want to be able to do it all with 1 System and multiple Sites (after all the kinks are ironed out of the firmware). Something like:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01 DMR HAM Repeaters (DMR One-Frequency System)

Search ID = ON

01 K5FTW Site (440.5375, 314822)
02 KN5TX Site (441.7250, 314826)
03 W5HK Site (440.6625, 314830)
04 N5GMJ Site (440.6750, 314843)

51 TalkGroups Dept

TGID 1, Worldwide (WW)
TGID 2, Local
TGID 3, North America (NA)
TGID 3148, Texas Statewide (Texas)

At least that is my eventual plan with the local VolNet repeaters around my area.

Me too, especially since amateur radio DMR repeaters use many of the same TGIDs as assigned by the DMR-MARC organization. Much easier to just program them in under one system rather than multiple times.

What Happened?

OK....I got my DMR key, updated the firmware on Sentinel, and had it write to the 536 and 436. Problem is
when I go to settings and upgrade, all I see is Provoice..no DMR/MOTOTrbo.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

The firmware must be manually copied over to the scanner. There is NO Sentinel support for the beta...
