Having read thriugh the threads here. You may have already answered my questions to this. "Its just not worth repairing" got it. I am somewhat hopeful though that I can get a miracle based on two things. It has a working backlight and the power supply has all the right voltages. I bought this on Fleabay not really expecting much as a "parts only" sale. Having checked the voltages and the resistor R28 for being open found everything good there. Went over it with a lighted magifying glass and touched up any cold solder joints hoping the flow-through would bring back something, it didn't. It still has no audio, nothing is displayed on the screen, and the keyboard is inoperative. Anyone here have any ideas or had similar issues and found an IC or something was the root cause? The dimmer button does what it suppose to and the backlight works. It occasionally gets a "pop" in the speaker then remains mute. Tried the hard reset, nada. I read about having to stick wires through all the double sided copper to get one working and 6 months worth or TLC. I should have held on to the last one I had....It worked great and was around in 2015 still working.

I would suggest disconnecting all cables that attach to the front circuit board and reattach them. I had similar issue with a PRO-2005 and that corrected the problem and brought the display and audio back. You might want to get some connector cleaner and spray the connections as well. Also for the audio, make sure the speaker is connected to the board and check audio through the headphone jack or the external speaker jack.
Good luck

I had the same problem with my Pro 2006, so I would look at the volume/on/off switches and carefully wiggle the the wires around. My Pro 2006 had some bad soldering connections I re-solder mine to resolve the no sound, blank screen problem. Not saying this is your radio problem, just that is something to check, hope it helps. Just another thought, check the plug that the wires from the on/off go to.

I got two of them when they first came out, GRE did a great job with that radio, just had to cut one diode and you had full analog cellular, it wasn't trunked but in those days there were so few phones you could always hear both sides of the conversation.

like 30 plus shipping
Thank you.

The reason I asked is that I have a fully functioning Pro-2004 that I might want to sell. I really have to think about it because I love that scanner. It is a matter of, I love the scanner but hardly use it because analog is basically gone here. If I decide to let it go would you be interested? Maybe $50 plus shipping?

After the grief with this one probably not, but am sure you can get that here if you decide to sell it.

Thanks
