I'm thinking of buying a 106. How do you like it? Are they worth it and what kind of software do they have for it.

Have had my 106 for over 1.5 years. Love it . Recently got a 197 to use in the shack. Win500 is my choice. Tried PSRedit500. It would be my second choice. Both are quite easy to use. Each brings a different look but does the same thing:) Just very used to using DonS's product.

I've had mine for about a year now and I love it. Very complex learning curve when you first start, but if you use the software it makes it very easy to set up. The only thing I can't understand is when mobile unless the signal strength is at least three bars the squelch will not open. When setting idle though it is fine. I use the WIN500 software for mine.

At least the grips don't fall off :)

I've got a 96 and 106 - Both are good scanners. If you need 700MHz tracking, the 106 is the only way to go.

I have a pro 106 with a 800mhz ant. I have win 500 software. My problem is I seem to be getting a strong signal but the transmission breaks up like they are letting up on their mike key.Anybody have any idea's.

I have had the 106 model for about two months now and am using WIN500 software to upload frequencies to the unit. It's a solid buy for sure. Clint

Have a 106 and a 197, the 197 provides the Phoenix AZ PD feed and the 106 the Phoenix East valley feed. I use WIN500 because of the remote client feature I can control the scanners from my laptop or phone I also like the record feature of WIN500.

I just brought my 106 this past Wednesday, I had a very hard time programming it but once I had it the know how by hand, this scanner is VERY easy to program once you figure out how to do it. the scanner will allow you to mix the scan list with other groups etc.

I have a Pro 106, as well as 2 Pro 197's. I love the three of them. I use Butel's ARC500 Pro software, which makes programming the radios a snap. Follow this link, so you can get an extra $45 bucks off the sale price of the radio, making it $304.00 plus tax.

Looks good! I initially had problems, but got it figured out.
