I have a Uniden 436hp. Is there any advantage in using Proscan vs Sentinel for programming. I am not looking to control scanner by computer or hosting any sites.
I currently have a couple of programming software for my BC125AT and Pro2052. I am looking into a SDS200 soon. Does Proscan have any more programming features for the SDS or 436? Not concerned about price, just looking for more features if Proscan has them.

I can't really list the features over Sentinel, cuz I don't use nearly all of them. But Proscan is just easier to use! Maybe because I am not computer savvy it works for me. Go ahead and go for the 30 day free trial and see for yourself.

I find the user interface worth the money alone. Sentinel I find to be slow, dreadful to change things around in and navigate, and way too many clicks just to modify anything even basic. ProScan feels like driving a Ferrari vs Sentinel being a Chevrolet Cavalier.

There's a 30 day free trial - can't hurt to give it a shot.

When your ready to try ProScan... Just download it and play with it... You get a 30 day fully functional free trial...
You will need a "Premium Subscriber" membership from RR to download from the Database into the software though...

One example... You need Sentinel to set up the display colors and layout... Cannot do that in ProScan...

Where ProScan really shines, comparing to Sentinel, is importing from the RR database (for Premium Subscribers such as you currently show).

In Sentinel, if you are appending a system from the main database to a Favorites list, Sentinel will append all of the sites of the system. While you can narrow down the talkgroups being appending by careful selecting, it will still append all of the sites.

That's not a big deal for a system local to you that only has a couple of sites. But when appending a larger regional or statewide system, you end up with many more than you'd be able to scan. Being a Premium Subscriber, and using ProScan, you can select only the site(s) and talkgroups you want. Plus, with ProScan, you have logging available, as well as control of the scanner through ProScan.

As Randy noted, Sentinel is still needed for certain functions, such as editing your profile & setting display features. Plus, Sentinel is the only way to get the database updates and any firmware updates, if and when some might be released.

While you currently have a 436HP, and are looking at an SDS200, both Sentinel & ProScan can be used with either scanner. However, additionally, ProScan also handles a large number of other Uniden scanners. See ProScan's webpage for the full list.

Sentinel is needed to perform firmware updates and it's quick to update the entire database. For everything else ProScan! (y)

Yes. You can run multiple instances on one computer for each radio all at the same time. You can install ProScan on two computers. If you have twenty scanners you can control them all as long as you have enough ports.

Yes

You can install ProScan on up to two separate PCs, and use either of them for any of the scanners ProScan supports. Using ProScan, you can import an existing file from one of your other scanners (after you ‘read’ the file into your PC), then use it as starting point in creating a file for a different scanner.

ARC536 only supports the 436HP, 536HP, SDS100 and SDS200, but can be used for any of them.

I use Proscan to listen to my SDS200 remotely on my phone. It excels at it. I also use it to record radio traffic.
