• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You can get several 1 watt RSMs for the APX that will fit the XPR, just won't get displays or channel functions, but it would be double the volume of an XPR RSM. Since getting my 7350, I just hand it on the shoulder mic slit on my tactical polo like a large RSM, London Metro style :)

Motorola has 1w RSM's made specifically for the 6000/7000 family now. NNTN8382 and NNTN8383.

I use the 8382 at work on my 7550 and love it. Sure it's not an APX RSM but it sounds great.

All UHF 7550s cover 403-512 MHz. Unless if a 6550 codeplug is what they're after, but I think it's the former.

xpr 7550 help

hi guys,
i just got my xpr 7550 and programmed it. so far i have two problems.
1-the first one is i can't enable voice announcement option (in the cps, when i click on manage voice announcement, it gives me 1921 error and tells me that it can'r find the applicable driver for it)

2-i programmed the first side button (the one on the top of the ptt) for monitor, but when i press it, it won't work. can someone help me with these?

same as always thanks for helping

The CPS gives an error when you click, or when you try to program the radio?

What version of CPS are you using, and have you tried to uninstall and reinstall it.....maybe a driver or dll got missed on the prior install.

Are you trying to use monitor on an analog or digital channel? I think it only works on analog.

Don't you have to LOAD your radio full of the voice announcement files FIRST, then do all the other CPS stuff? I got my voice stuff to work on my 7350's, but it's been a few months so I don't recall the exact process, but I remember having to load the radios up first before the files would show up on the voice file drop down lists.

that's exactly what i'm trying to do, for uploading the voices, i should open the manage voice announcement, which when i tried to do, i faced with that error

Does anyone have closeup pictures of the actual connector? I have searched high and low and can;t find one. I just asked our sales rep for our mobile radios here at work to see if he can get me a demo unit to play with :)

Here you go. Trying to get any help anymore is a struggle like going to the dentist and having a molar tooth yanked out. This is the actual OEM Moto test adaptor and the 7550 radio antenna jack close up. Hope this helps you out. Sorry for not responding sooner as I was also having issues locating any info on this a year ago and saw this post today years later. This is my radio and I decided to take it apart to help those who need to know what it looks like exactly.

They look at it this way. A 2-way shop buys that for the going rate. It is to be used only for alignment on the bench. NOT for connecting a mobile antenna to the radio to extend range. At $50, or $75 per radio alignment, that device will help to generate thousands of $ for the shop. Sounds like bargain now, right?

For a service shop it is a no-brainer. I've read that it consists of two pieces, but I only see one piece?

Obviously the long shaft is to allow the adapter to pass through the access hole in the case.

The other piece is just to hold the adapter in place. At $150.00 extra, I do without it.
