HUGE signal ($9D6) into Santa Clarita on 769.40625 this evening. If I'm reading my antique correctly, this may be site 27? I'll provide better when I've managed to find all my old analysis software 8*)

I'll be keeping an eye on this system from Ventura. On the 7/800 base antenna it's almost as strong as the Ventura County simulcast, but not on the smaller antennas; it's quite scratchy on an indoor portable but there's spots where I can hear it. Since it's blasting Santa Clarita and fairly strong here, I'd expect it to be on Oat Mountain (to which I have distant but direct LOS). I've been listening since around noon and there's only been BSIs in the activity log.

Oat is not shown as a build-out site per the state map posted in reply 93.

Closest to SoCal is Lebec.

Where I’m at, Oat would be knife-edge and the signal would be pretty ratty. I have a better view of Frazier than I should, so Lebec isn’t as far-fetched as it seems.

Well if it were on Frazier, it wouldn't be audible here -- stuff there comes in below the noise floor. In fact, none of the sites on the previous maps would be above my noise floor. And I'm hearing this with decent signal strength on a portable from Ventura.

On another note, looks like talkgroup 131 (decimal) will be in use on this new site in addition to the previous reports of it being seen on "'site 2'". Radio ID 302 registered and affiliated, then deregistered about 16 minutes later, to this talkgroup without any other activity or users.

I am planning to visit more sites throughout the week.

Finally some voice activity on Site 27. Radio ID 302 talking to themselves, nobody else on the system. Yep, it's TDMA. No, it's not encrypted. The voice channel used was 774.08125 MHz.

New talkgroups 11 and 14 seen on Site 27, encrypted Phase 2. 302 was using 11 and 7227 was using 14, and they were going back and forth like they were trying to talk to each other. 774.08125 MHz was the only voice channel used. I neglected to set DSDPlus to tell me encryption info. Nearly all of the system activity seems to be happening around 6AM.

Short encrypted transmissions on TGID’s 11, 12 and 13 this morning; Site 27

Interestingly enough, they were DES-OFB encrypted using a key commonly seen on ICI; previous encrypted activity on Site 27 was AES with a key I didn't recognize. These new transmissions were from a new radio ID, 118. Nobody else was on the system when those transmissions were made.

More chatter on Site 27, RIDs 101 and 102 talking on talkgroup 147 ($93) and 148 ($94), with a brief period of AES encryption on TG 147 coming from only RID 102. Sounds like they're using selectable encryption.

While waiting for BSI on site 24 (which I never did receive), there was additional activity from 302 on TG 139 ($8B) and an affiliation to TG 132 ($84) by 102. There's going to be a lot of talkgroups on this system. So far on Site 27, we have 11, 12, 13, 14, 131, 132, 139, 141, 142, 143, 147, 148 (encrypted, some encryption, and including talkgroups that were only seen by affiliation). I have not seen any Phase 1 activity.

-----------------------------------------------

New site 24 ($18) is on the air. It's not very strong here, on the fringe of a portable's squelch in the good spots and about -100dBm on the base (which is still at least 25 dB above the best-case on the sites mapped in #93). Like the other sites, it's C4FM. I don't think I'll be monitoring this one. SoCal listeners, let's see who can hear this one and from where (and let's check Site 27 as well).

Control channel 769.90625
Alternate control channels 770.16875, 770.46875, 770.69375.
I didn't see any BSI while monitoring for a few hours, so it probably isn't sending BSI at all.
No neighboring sites. Site 27 still indicates no neighbors.

Site 28 is on the air. It's weak in Santa Clarita.

(FWIW, I am not hearing Site 24 here at all)
