    Air Band Feed Antenna Suggestions

I actually have a Tram 1410 discone at the house for two other public safety feeds, I'm thinking about moving all of this to the tower our ham radio club is at, which is LOS to the nearest airport anyways, so I may just stick with that.

    Air Band Feed Antenna Suggestions

I'm looking to set up an air band feed at our radio club's tower, which is LOS to the nearest airport, and while not very busy, would probably cover a lot of ZID traffic over southern WV, OH, and eastern KY. Not sure how well it will do sitting under a 100kw FM transmitter, but gonna give it a...

Seeking Feedback on Rail Band Reception Improvement Options

Michael, if you end up using Par, let me know. I had a friend recommend them to me and I sent them an e-mail tonight, waiting on a reply back. I'm looking to see if they can make me a couple ATCS filters, some of my site sit in high RF environments and I'd like to squeeze a little extra...

    Amtrak Radio Frequencies

Good point, I thought you were referring to conductor/engineer comms. My mistake. I forgot that Amtrak still has other staff on the train.. nobody tell Amtrak though, they might start nixing them. Mike

    Amtrak Radio Frequencies

No, they do not. They use whatever road channel they are on. The conductor has to confirm the transmissions made by the engineer, since they are not in the engine together.

    New UP antenna

Just saw this photo come up on RP.net with the same antenna as PJH listed, except on the B&LE. I assume it's for cellular for codeline, nothing else B&LE would be using it for. Mike https://railpictures.net/photo/751653/

    New UP antenna

Interesting. I don't know what that would be for, unless it's still RCL related. Does not appear to be related to GPS use, not sure why it would be used for radio code line but I do know that UP is moving areas of their line over to Genisys SD9, which requires a whole different set up compared...

    NS frequency changes system wide

Tom et al, on the subject of the repeaters.. I'm still not entirely sure what is going on, but 011 is broadcasting well east of Portsmouth.. I heard it yesterday in Williamson, and even further east from there, so there must be multiple transmitters active and linked through the microwave...

    NS frequency changes system wide

I was going to pull the license back up but haven't been arsed to, so I'm glad someone did. I had the licenses archived somewhere when investigating what sounded like NXDN data which ended up being crossing data I think. I stand corrected on yardmasters. Yes, the Kenova yardmaster has been...

    NS frequency changes system wide

Tom, I believe it's on their South Portsmouth tower, I hear it just fine at the house here in Ashland. I've also heard it in Williamson as well, so they must be simulcasting somehow, but I don't know if it's the same input down there or not, or if they're linked. Next time I'm down that way I'll...

    NS frequency changes system wide

So, for some reason. NS has installed what sounds like a repeater that broadcasts the yard channels in Portsmouth, OH and Williamson, WV. Williamson was recently all but shuttered, so I'm not sure if Portsmouth has taken over duties there or not. The repeater is operating on AAR 011 as an...

Radioshack Pro-106 Scanner TRADE for Pro-197 or similar

I have a Pro-106 handheld digital scanner that has been on my radio feed for several years. I've acquired two Pro-197's and am looking to trade the Pro-106 for another Pro-197. Does not have to be in perfect condition but must work appropriately. Pro-106 does not have battery cover/holder or...

    Via Rail Canada

The sites are probably using data from the railroads in some form of cellular based GPS tracking for their systems. asm.transitdocs.com is one for Amtrak in the US. Probably used by the RR to determine schedule changes on the fly. The data wouldn’t be coming from PTC, since that info has been...

    Kenwood Channel Steering capability

I know that Motorola has the ability to apply power (or short, I can't remember) to certain pins on their accessory connector to change channels as needed, but can Kenwood's mobiles do the same thing using the DB25 connector? I'm looking to do the same with a Kenwood VHF mobile (I believe a...

    Current CNO&TP Channels

The Cincinnati desk which controls from Gest Street (well, north of there too) to Blanchet uses 056 for road and 009 for Ch 2. From Blanchet to Burnside is the Kentucky desk, which uses 027 for road and 057 for Ch. 2. I'm not entirely sure on the South end, I will have to double check. If you...

VHF and UHF repeater on same antenna

That's our goal.. we're just going to wait until warmer weather to install the second antenna (I have Heliax for both the 2m and the digital repeaters).. I've also considered Bridgecom's dual repeater duplexer setup but I had to resort to their Facebook group to get an answer on if it would work...

VHF and UHF repeater on same antenna

Long story short, our club has a 2 meter analog repeater on air currently. We are planning on setting up a UHF DMR repeater, but for the time being I'm hoping to use a diplexer and the existing antenna to get it on the air until we can put up a dedicated feedline for the UHF repeater. Our...

    Yaesu: Linking 2m and 70cm DR2X repeaters

Well.. I stand corrected on the repeater, so I apologize ko6jw_2. That's a bummer.. I was hoping to use it that way. It's okay.. we plan on setting up Allstarlink between the two sites anyways this spring. Luckily ours is easy to access (right off a paved road, though it's 45 mins from me) but...

    Yaesu: Linking 2m and 70cm DR2X repeaters

Not sure why Yaesu would include a TX-B port if the secondary transceiver was not meant for duplex communications. Guess I'll have to find out when we get ours put up, hopefully tomorrow.

    Yaesu: Linking 2m and 70cm DR2X repeaters

I'm assisting a radio club with upgrading their repeaters to Yaesu DR2X's purchased during Yaesu's upgrade program. One repeater is a 2 meter (currently a DR1x) connected to an Arcom RC210, and the other is a 70cm Kenwood repeater with no controller. The two are currently linked using a UHF...
