For the few of you that might have noticed I haven't been posting for many a moon, I had gotten tired of limping along with radios 'not quite' handling reband. So, yesterday, I received a new PSR-800. Life is good! I can now get my arms around UCAN, and quickly change to TG's of interest...

Are there any noticeable difference in what these 2 units can pick up via digital vs conventional.How would they compare to a Gre-500.I like the concept of the Home Patrol and the 800 seems to be a updated 500.Any advise about these units would be a great help

I just got my new PSR-800 and the LCD backlight will not come on. The keypad light works, and I found the LiteArea menu entry and tried LCD and both. I also put it on USB power to make sure it wasn't the batteries. Is this a software issue or should I just start packing this up to go back?

OK - the default PSR-800 battery charge timer is 16 hours. I'm using 2500mah Eneloop batteries and charging it with the 800mah charger for my Droid phone. If it charged at 100% efficiency and if the radio did not regulate the charge rate, it would fully charge in just over three hours. To GRE...
