If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,

I have a 02 CH local/dash mount to an 8500, firmware R36 & CPS 36. The speaker on the 02 is extremely faint, almost inaudible.

I connect the 02 to my 6500 and 2500 radios in same local/dash mount configuration with both radios on firmware R32 & CPS 32, speaker works fine - (a different style/version of flex cable to 8500).

Connect 02 back to 8500, barely any sound from front speaker again.

Swap 02 over with my remote 03 8500 with firmware R27 & CPS 32, (making remote a local mount) still no 02 speaker sound, but using same flex cable.

With both 8500 radios, there is external speaker sound and both work on an E5 or 03, so it's not an audio chip issue.

I've checked all CPS settings and even import copy from a known woking 02 2500 local mount codeplug - Still no 02 speaker sound, yet sound works when connected to any other APX radio but an 8500 no matter the firmware version.

I can't compare the 8500-02 flex cable, I don't have another one to test with.

Otherwise, the 02 works fine -- Just no front speaker.

I've not come across this issue before.

Would it be my flex cable is faulty or something else to look for?

Thankyou in advance :)

What is your part number for the 8500 flex? There are several revisions and what you are describing is indicitive of the incorrect one for the O2/O7 heads.

Thankyou for your prompt reply. I did suspect the flex and yes, it has a PA001123A01 when it should be a PA001123A02.

It was starting to do my head in.... hahaaa.

That is that correct flex to use yeah?? ----> PA001123A02

Just got to find one now if so.

So the 02 and 07 use the same flex? I'm using a PA001123A01 flex on an 8500 with 07 head and that works fine. Haven't tried my 02 with that flex yet.
Apparently yes, the PA001123A02 flex, so internet docs inform me.

Glad you don't need a new flex. I had an 07 but didn't like it. Stayed with E5.
