In my area in Montgomery County 154.2500 is Lower providence fire companies' private repeater for their off-county system operations. About a week or so ago I started hearing radio testing being done on the same frequency. It is in fact a repeater that seems to ID quite often, but I have yet to decode it. I've did a search for the tri state area, and I've only come up with other fire/Ems operations out of my receive range. I can't seem to find a new outfit that has filed for a license for the same frequency. Seeing how I can receive it well on an inside receiver close to lower providence I am shocked no coordination was done. If anyone else is close and can identify it, I'm curious to know what it is. TIA

Could be coordinated and just not showing up on the ULS yet or change your search parameters to pending.

Did you log a tone to go along with it? I last logged a key up with no voice and callsign KMA587 on 154.250000, D156 on Friday evening at 17:33. RRDB has the listing as follows so looks like the tone may have changed. Not sure if this is what you heard or not. I'm close to you and picked it up pretty well, albeit with an outdoor antenna

I just wanted to open you to the possibility that due to the atmospheric conditions the past few nights, it could be something very far away. Frequently, and I have heard it this week on the Burlington County P25 SJ Net Patch Talkgroup which is patched to 154.265 (different freq but same idea), I hear Bradford County PA fire dispatch and ops. That was coming in to Burlington County Westampton at the county building on some big antenna, but think that you may be getting something from quite a distance away. Since I'm near to Burlington County, I can see if 154.25 is active.

Before last week I never heard anything else, this is pretty active as of late last week during business hours, I heard a comment about going across a bridge to jersey but sounded like PA based. Doesn't sound like fire ops, sounds like some sort of patrol maybe something to do with port authority as a secondary or Maintenace? Monitoring CSQ, I have the ID recorded just haven't had the time to decode it and was wondering if anyone knew what it was before hand.

Then they must have repurposed the system, because I've been hearing they are shutting down roads and asking for equipment operators. Maybe roads department or Maintenace and they reinstalled old equipment reason for testing they've been doing.

Just weird that they have the p25 system and choosing to use analog. I guess I'll have to listen and see what I can come up with. I've been listening to lower providences' repeater for 20 years or so and never used a receive tone if there even is one.

Many times the DPW/Highway Dept is left the hand-me-downs, and if it is a decent working system - Why not

when my FD went T-Band the DPW got moved from VHF Low to the old Fire VHF High

I get it at like a 4-5 scale from up the road, I'm still puzzled on what they are using it for. It's definitely not fire operations; I thought roads or DPW but why would they have a full-time dispatcher for that? I hear a lot about shutting down traffic. I've also heard comments about PA and NJ and talk about stopped vehicles. I believe it is a secondary system for something but with most of jersey being on a trunk system I'm shocked they are using VHF as a secondary. Whatever it is it seems to be a 8-5 operation, I haven't heard anything listening at night.

So, continuing to listen I want to say that this has something to do with the bridges between PA and NJ. Not sure why it would be DRJTBC when they have their own system, but this is not based in just NJ and I don't believe it is Burlington County.

Possibly Burlington County Bridge Commission bridge talk for the Burlington Bristol Bridge or the Tacony Palmyra Bridge.

trentbob might have some knowledge.
No the only VHF High frequency used by the Burlington Bridge Commission is 151.01 PL 127.3, simplex.. used every day more frequently than the bridge commissions talk group on the Burlington County encrypted system, District 49 is Burlington Bristol and District 48 is Tacony Palmyra.

My only experience in the area with 124.25 was, a long time repeater for East Windsor Rescue Squad. That frequency hung around for decades. Might still be used but I'm not in that area at all anymore so I don't know.
