This has been going on since early in the a.m. hours. Sporadic reports even here in the San Fernando Valley of people fitting the description of these 2 have not panned out yet. The SFV is just in the next valley to where this prison is located... less than 20 miles or so away.

The area that they are in has plenty of space to hide in but dogs enjoy finding these people.

Whitmore said the men may have fled while working at a kitchen loading dock at the jail 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

Whitmore said about 80 deputies were hunting for the men, who were arrested last year in Los Angeles. Deputies in helicopters and on motorcycles searched the rugged terrain around the facility.

The jail was locked down, and sirens were activated to warn the surrounding communities, said Deputy Benjamin Grubb.
