To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Thanksall....

FIRETAZ834: the reason i didnt get one from a store and made it myself, i cant see sepeding 3-400 on a console all said and done... mine so far is 18$ wood, 40$ Line-x and my time... bu the thing i like most is i get what i want.. with a little planning and more planning and test fitting and fitting and fitting LOL you get what you want and where you want it..

spend the day today, well it was raining out so i did some wiring.. wow i need a map so far ! LOL i took a short movie of the fan controller working, trust me it looks mint ! im so excited !

im sure that some of you will be, why you put that there, or why you do that.. well i spent soooooo much time just sitting in the drivers seat, waving my arm back and forth and seeeing what i wanted and how easy it would be to flip switches where i put em... its more on ease and comfort as to what i like... plus the red bulbs on the sides so at night i can have a little light but not effect my eyes, and a controller for the fans so i can adjust the rpm so i dont have to hear HUMMMMMMMMMMMM the entire time... spin em slow and you cant hear anything.. as far as upgrades, i got ll the steel today and plan to in the next day or two start to drill a few holes.. im cutting the profile of the radios i have, and if and when i need to change a radio or upgrade then ill get a new pcs of steel and recut it ! all the steel cost me 10$ ! so im not doing tooo bad on cost ! :)

ill try saturday to post the movie that i took and see if it works !

thanks for all the positive comments ! please ask what ever you want and ill try my best to awns for the reason i did what i did !

did quite a bit of wiring today on it.. one great sunny day today and i made the most of it outside working on the center console.. i managed to run all the wire in and out of the front part of the console and into the back but ran into a little snag when i wanted to use the steady power and the switch power but ...... i could only find the switch power from the back of the radio and i didn't want to drain the power from that line running the things in the console so i attached a wire to the radio line and ran that to a relay and just used the main power that i have to my block .. so im still using the block power but a trigger pretty much from the radio to the relay and bingo ! ya sound easy but it took me about 2 hrs to re run al the wire to accommodate the new idea ! LOL well that's why i built it myself so i could have fun figuring new things out on what to do .. but you will all have a good LOL when you see the pictures.. ill put them up Sunday afternoon sometime... i just got it in the truck before sundown today and ran a few checks on the wiring and all good to go.... hope you all have a great thanks giving day and dinner !

Thanks again for the comments ! :)

well, i got the switch's installed today, a little wiring to figure out as i was putting it all together but needless to say that it all came out looking great ! added a few other relays LOL but when i started to power things up from the truck... i seen a little SMOKE ! AGAHGAHAGHAGHAGHAHAGAHGAHAGH dam it ! i had a wire crossed and from using another relay i forgot to add an inline fuse.. so the smoke came from the fan controller ! LOL noooo couldn't be the light it had to be the fan controller..... dam you ! so off to the USA Monday if anything is open to get a new controller ! :(((((((((((((( i will never learn.... but i was having a problem tring to figure out the layout for the switch's ( 10 of them ) so i figured that it would be best if i lay it out on autocad 14 and then print it to scale and then i took the print and placed it on the steel that i had and used the template to center punch the holes ! it was just as good as using a layout table ! ill deff use that method again !

hope you all had a great weekend dinner !

wow you really got into it.

Im currently designing a console for my 1995 chevy 1500, and I hadn't thought of going all out with the cooling fans but thats a great idea. Where did you get the controller for that?

sorry for the delay, No its not paint, its the chemical rubber compound from LINE-X ! the stuff that they dpray in trucks for a bed liner !

he sprayed it, hung the gun up and handed it to me... it was dry within 5 seconds... its a chemical reaction !

its was instantly hard ! just see any truck with the bed liner thats sprayed in and thats what its like !

Ride around with full size cups in your cup holders and practice reaching for your radios. Make sure your cups are not in the way with how you reach as you drive, if so you may want to rearrange your layout before you cut.

I like the work so far it looks great. With the picture mock up looks like the old cardboard fake VCRs that Sauder use to use to display with there entertainment centers. Keep up the good work. I can not wait to see the final results.

HI all, sorry for delay ! Police College is killing me ! huge Exam this week and had to cram so the center console had to rest a little !

JOE & IZZY ok on the cup holders, i made about 5 diff options, bottom support, top holes, distance from her to there and here to that ! agahaha but the Venti is the biggest cups i hold... and to my surprise its perfect ! just a small gap between each lid and perfect depth to hold them.. but also room to go over them to do what i have to do on the radios....

MagnetSteve: the slits are now the home of 2 iPhone holders ! LOL custom made back holders and black speaker box carpet inside so as not to damage the screen on the phone. there is 1 constant power 12v from teh iphone pin to a 12 volt power source, and the top slot ( mine ) lol has the iuphone pin to a usb, this way i can plug the usb into a usb 12volt charger and then if i want to listen to the emergency radio App then i unplug my mp3 usb stick from my radio patch cord and then plug my phone cord into it ! so i can listen to the scanner using my trucks radio ! ill have to get a few shots of that to post up !

not sure if anyone here is on facebook, but if so look up my group page ( SMOKE Design ) LOL its all to do with the center console !

NSWESP: the switch run down is like this..

the top row is constant 12volt power
the bottom row is IGG Switch p12 volt power.

notice the (one Relay) in the pictures, ok i ties the power for the relay into the fuse pack on the console and then used a trigger wire from the truck igg radio wire to the relay.. i didnt want to pull big wire from the fuse box on the truck and from the radio, so why not sue the main power line i ran and then just utilize a relay also.. and it worked great !

i got the fan controller replaced from MICRO CENTER ! lol i told them that i smoked it and they were like ! LOL HEY NO PROBLEM, do you have the old one ?? ahhhhhh ya its back in canada with $5 toll each way ! his response to that was... huh ok well thanks for shopping here and here is your new fan controller ! :) with a smile ! god i love that place !

well the plate is being cut out now at the local tool shop ! just for the CB guys so don't get too excited ! lol ill l cut the rest when i can afford the rest ! but ill paint and mount it so i can see what its going to look like ! i cant wait !

i would like to get into the RS-PRO-197 or the 200 somthin.. but not sure as to whats better ! there is so many scanners out there and i have not had time to loko into everyone as of yet ! and the same for the uhf/vhf... now the cold weather is here ill have more time after exams ! :(

one more thing, i just grabbed the armrest from the old center console to use for now but i seem to like it ! whats your take on it ! look OK or sould i make a new one just a tab bigger !?!

any way all, hopefully ill be able to post things again ina day or so with the CB mounted ! YEEEEE HAAAAAA
