Thanks, but that number is nowhere on my diagram. That is why I didn't get it at first. I used 2N222

Now it all makes sense. Anyway, I’m glad to see it works for you.
On mine, it’s constanly goes off since I use it for aircraft monitoring.
There is a Bill Cheek signal strength meter mod for the 2004,5,6 scanners that “should” work
on the 2035,42 models.

I haven’t quite figured out how to make it work on my 2042 yet.. Fun stuff though..

Solved it!

Pro-2042 now has a working signal strength meter mod. I know it's only relative but it's better than not having one. For aircraft monitoring, this is perfect. If anybody is interested, I can post pics in the appropriate Radio Shack forums. This is a nice mod for the 2035,2042.
