Starting at around 1600utc, until 1612 utc, heard what sounded like someone trying to make contact. Using phonetic alphabet, possible accent, couldn't quite put my finger on it though. I looked through the wiki, just to be sure, but this is outside of the amateur band plan , correct? I assumed it was in USB , then dialed in LSB to get a better sound---using the 2.3 filter on the 880. Faintly coming back now. 1616utc. Mike

That would be still in the 12meter amateur radio band.

If you see Autovon's response, it's just inside, not outside, the 12m band, which is available to Generals and up. Hearing it in LSB is a little odd, more likely a receiver glitch, as most all transmissions above 10 Mhz are USB by convention

Thanks for moving the thread Mike. I would not have posted it in the utility forum, just had it in my head that it was outside the band plan. I need to start wearing my glasses. The LSB kind of surprised me also, but I just could not get it to zero in on USB. So for the heck of it, tried the LSB and it worked. Weird I know. Mike
