Hi all

I want to connect my 3500xlt scanner to my PC to programme it. I've not done this in a few years! It connects via a serial port to a Windows 10 PC. The Serial port is on a expansion card as the motherboard doesn't have one on it (this is the same set up I had for windows 7).

In the device manager I have a 'COM4' but its slightly faded out not available on the BCTool+ programme which I have always used.
There is also a 'HDB Interface' and 'Mass storage controller' under 'Other devices' but I'm not sure if they have anything to do with it.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

BCTool website shut down, all software via Software informer, newest software

Version: 2.0.0.916 (x86)
Date update: Jan 27, 2012
File name: setup_bctool_2r28.exe
Size: 4.3 MB

Seams to connect to Windows 10 pro (x64) system. On another site you asked :

"Does anyone have a link to the BcTool software I use for my Uniden 3500XLT?

I managed to download a copy a few years ago for my win7 installation but i'm on 10 now and can't seem to find a link. I dont have the setup exe on my old installation but I do have the files but that doesn't work just dragging them across!"

Hi, I think it's the same as you have. My I'm away from my PC at the moment so cant check. I expect there is somthing else I could try to programme it but there is still the COM issue. Mind you I could find it just suddenly works next time I turn it on!

Another thing to check, does the 'device manager' see The Serial port is on a expansion card ?
What port is reported in 'device manager' ?

What is the model is it? Most of them have the ability to adjust the COM port settings, and then maybe we can find settings that this BCTool can use.
