I have 2 SDS200s, and I use ProScan to record and control the scanner virtually. Today, I found that both my SDS200s had failed to communicate with ProScan. When I attempted to reconnect them, they failed to identify in ProScan. Both scanners are in serial port mode and are connected via USB always. Both USBs communicate fine with the computer itself and show up in the device manager when plugged in but fail to be recognized by ProScan. I've reconnected the USBs multiple times and attempted to add them to Proscan again but to no avail. I also tried a new instance of Proscan to see if that would help, but they still will not show up. I also tried to update the drivers too.

I've attached screenshots of my Device Manager and the ProScan COM port windows on both scanners. I'm using Windows 10. If it helps, I also have a 436HP, which works without issue.

Im at a loss as to what may have happened. Does anyone have any ideas? @ProScan

Did you by chance reboot your PC before this started?

Two things to try:

1) Turn off the scanners and kill those instances of ProScan. Turn the scanners back on and let them go into serial mode. Start up ProScan and see if it will detect the scanners.
2) If that does not work, shut off the scanners and reboot your PC. After the PC is up and running turn on the scanners, wait for them to go into serial mode, then start up ProScan.

I have found that on my PC at least, under both Windows 10 and 11, that I have to start things in that order: PC, scanners, ProScan.

Have you set the port to none and then refreshed and see if that works? Seem to remember that when using my 436.

Can also set port to none, and then try auto.

Right, but did he then hit set and then hit refresh ports?
Yes. I did that twice. Didn't seem to help lol

Yeah, it seemed to have restarted overnight. I have all my Proscan instances auto-start up again on a boot. Ive never had that problem before. Usually, I can just unplug and replug the cables, and it will show up again, but this morning, it didn't. Hmm weird.

Anyway, I tried this, and it worked! I didn't even need to get to step 2. It seemed that restarting the scanners worked. Anyway, Thank you!
