Looking at the manual on the FCC website, it sounds like you can only choose one of the ten fire tone outs to monitor at a time, not all ten. Is this correct? I'm sure the answer is probably in the forum somewhere but I don't have time to read 17 pages on the 396 page! :)
Thanks

Yes to both. It's also in the manual, but that's over 100 pages, so I guess that's too much effort, too.

It would be nice if it were to monitor 1 frequency, rather that one setting.

If I am reading the manual right it will monitor One setting (freq/tones) which is no better that an old Minitor I

I was really looking forward to the tone-out feature. I guess my hopes were set too high. I have it worse off than most people - our county uses an EF Johnson Mulitnet II system that cannot be scanned I was hoping to at least hear the neighboring fire compaies get toned out without listening to all of the calls.

You should download a newer (and revised!) version of the manual by going to the Yahoo group for the BCD396T since there's many things that got corrected, added or clarified in the new version. And it might answer many more questions you may have....

Which is just as much improvement for scanners as the first pager model was over the 'previous' pager model. (IOW: Something is better than nothing)
