i was thinking the same thing , im a first time uniden buyer , 250-D , 785-D and probably a first and last time buyer. the sound quality of these radios sucks on the digital side. the hanging freq. problem . and now that iv spent almost 1000.00 on both radios , chargers , spare battery packs , experimental battery packs , (joeythemedic) type , which i like by the way. ........and now UNIDEN isnt going to be able to upgrade in any way form or fashion the 250-D , 785-D , i really dont think ill be going with uniden again....although i love the I CALL feature , and MILAIR freqs. I can really live with out them . im not going to buy the 396 , im going to wait and see what GRE comes out with to counter . but i always was big on GRE radios , thats all i ever owned .....till now. , so with the great disappointment , of UNIDEN NOT being able to fix the problem of the rebanding with these radios , I wont be buying UNIDEN no more. disappointment right from the start. not to say they havnt had good radios , but im just saying with my experience with my only 2 radios from them , and now no customer support for the rebanding issue.....IM DONE !

What sort of upgrade did you expect?
And re: rebanding, Uniden is the only manufacturer to tell users what radios will be upgradeable.

If I wanted to buy ascanner Uniden or other wise in the near future what would be safe to buy considering the reband issue?
you know damn well what im saying , either be able to re flash the scanners or send them back to be brought up to speed . big deal , they let us know what radios will be up-gradable.....laugh laugh laugh.....use your head , you spend all that money , and 2 yrs later the radios arnt going to be able to perform as thier supposed to ! wheres the customer support for thier product users...??? "they let us know what radios are upgradable " :twisted: yea now my wallet feels a lot better !
and even if they charged us , and i would expect them to .....no problem with that , as long as you were able to get the radio to trunk the way it was meant to. then id have no B_TCH ! or how about coming up with some software to ship to there dealers for example , send it to lentinis and you bring the radio to them , they charge you to fix the trunking issue with the soft ware and everyones happy , now thats for example...i dont know if they could do that or not....but give us something for the money we already shelled out !

If it's one of the newer models, they already said a reflash will be available. If it's older, check the list they've posted and see...

If Uniden was aware that the rabanding was coming then you would have a legit gripe. If you were to sell the scanners and buy the GRE's that you want, you would be out some money but not what it will be when the changes start.

thank you chris , someone that makes since ! i think that is what im going to have to do ....is put these up for sale , and take a loss ! plain and simple. but i really would like to see what if anything GRE has in the works to counter the 396? so i might sell , and hang off on buying anything at this point. GRE is the manufacturer of most of the radio shack scanners ! from time to time UNIDEN comes out with one for the shack (for the person wondering what a GRE scanner is )
