Hi. I live 12 miles from the nearest transmitter for a police dept im trying to receive and monitor on my 396xt amd sds100. Seems like it's cutting in and out on both scanners. It is a p25 digital conventional vhf freq. (154.875) non encrypted. Any ideas on why it would do this? TIA. Im in Racine. Im trying to monitor pleasant prairie police. Fire comes in just fine.

Do you have the 309 NAC programmed? On the 396XT, press and hold the HOLD button while turning on. The display will cycle through background colors. Press MENU > Scroll to Settings > Press E > Scroll to P25 Adjust Mode > Press E > Try the values of 3 thru 15 to find the best decode. Start at the low end. > Press SCAN to exit menus.
