Wow, I am amazed at how much interest this topic has raised... I do want to mention that I am not questioning about the charging being turned off when the switch is set to alkaline... the question was to do with whether or not the battery pack (cells) still supply power along with the adapter when it is plugged in. Sounds like it doesn't, which implies that when the plug goes in it physically disconnects the circuit to and from the cells.. but I guess the safest is to just take a cell out when I am mobile.
If the mobile adapter is providing power, no power will be drawn from the cells.
However will charge the rechargeable batteries.
Not if the switch is in the ALK position.
I will test it out to see for sure. One more thing I didnt realize about this radio i guess. I suppose thats a good idea eh and a good way of protecting against melting it or blowing it up.
