There is software that will decode the telemetry. There are several types of balloons and we would have to know which type (LMS-6, RS-41, or DFM-17) before I can suggest which software. I decode them and they transmit their GPS position along with the weather information. I have actually gone out with a laptop and receiver with the software in my car and recovered 11 balloons (I have several next to me) and saw about as many stuck in high trees.
