Been hearing maintenance workers at a windfarm on this repeater. I cannot locate a FCC license to determine the user. The signal was strong in Normal so it has to be somewhere close. Leroy?

Re; windfarm?

Cubn, well you're right. There is a VERY strong repeater on 451.8125/ D423 in this area. I did not hear any cw id or real traffic, only a couple short transmissions but I'll keep listening. :)

hmm

Just my two cents, I would take a while guess and say its under the companies names and the antenna structure not the physical repeater is up on one of the turbines. If its there why not use it to its full advantage.

451.8125 / 456.8125 is an Itinerant repeater pair (FB2); typically licensed for statewide or nationwide itinerant (temporary) operation. More than likely you will not find a local license for this repeater.

True. Nonetheless, I'm gonna do a bit of homework and see who owns/operates this beast. :)
I'll post my results,if any!

There are three apporaches

Three are three approaches to locating licenses. Check by county, check by name, and then isolated to the tax id (FRN) number. What did you come up with?

I've heard them mention 77 and the blade on 98. The Twin Groves Wind Farm (run by Horizon Wind Energy) is the only one I know of that would have that many windmills near Bloomington.

You might be better off using a frequency and location search. I use it to verify a frequency and separation from my locations.

Use Site / Market / Frequency Query.

If you have lat/long use that other wise use county and or state. If you know the company name use that and do a nationwide search. 451 channels I believe are power frequencies. They may have a temporary FB2 that they can use anywhere within their operating area.

More info: Don't see Horizon Wind Energy having this frequency in any of their licenses. It is an business itinerant frequency with a bandwidth of 6kc max, location for a fixed operation must be 100mi out of urbanized areas. 20 watts max if 75 mi away from urban areas. The only user within 200 miles of Bloomington Ill is a public safety user 109mi away.

Ok, I found 2 licenses on 451/456.8125 nationwide, for a construction company from Illinois that in it's filing states, "Applicant is in the business of constructing Wind Farms across multiple states. Frequencies will be used to coordinate personnel safely."
Call signs WQKQ478 - J F Edwards Consruction Company and WQKQ562 - J F Edwards Construction Company. Probably is them.

Is this it 11931 WHITE OAK WIND FARM - BLOOMINGTON, IL

Yes, I drive by this everyday to work. The windmills start around the truck scales past Carlock on the North side and continue for a couple miles to east across US-150. Massive windfarm and they are putting it up very quick.
