It is most likely on 49.860 Mhz. Most baby monitors operated on that or 49.845 Mhz.
There are actually 5 seldom used 49mhz. channels that are license free. Those are a couple and I'd have to look up the others,but they might be fun to play with!

It's kind of funny yet sad that people unknowingly bug their houses with these. I live in a sub and can pick up 2 monitors on 49MHZ and a few in the 900 band (905.250,etc). I want to tell them "you have to go digital!".
I have 2 small kids and made sure I bought the digital FHSS type monitors. There are a few houses close by with radio antennas and I noticed a scanner antenna up there to. No thanks, I like my privacy.

I think most people who are "innocently ignorant" have no clue whatsoever that they radiate rf from their home or play rooms to the general public! All we can do is educate the public from what we have learned as operators,right?

About a dozen years ago, a friend of mind set up a baby monitor in a church he attended, and the reciever was in the pastor's bedroom in the parsonage next door. The purpose of the set up was security, if someone broke in, the pastor would hear it. Turns out the pastor started hearing members in the church talking about him, and everyone else. When the pastor told my friend about it, my friend started carrying a little scanner with him when he came to church. And my friend says that often, when he would pull up to the church, sure enough, people standing around in the lobby would look out and start talking about him or his wife.

I don't think so, not even close. Try 49855000 hz. There is a million hz in each mhz.
But what if your neighbor has an IC-9500 and is feeding the 10.5Mhz IF to an SDR? connected to a PC

I had a pair of those 5 ch walkie talkies years ago. The range was actually decent, but you had to compete with the baby monitors and the cordless phone input transmissions (handset to base).
Has anyone tried to DX on one of those? Despite they only transmitted at 500mw?
