760xlt question about interference

If you play the file you will hear the interference I am talking about

This is the BC-760xlt with a CTCSS board in it.

Do you think the interference could be caused by the power supply I bought for it since it isn't the Org. Uniden power supply or could it be something else.

I've moved the antenna, cables and nothing I do seems to fix it.

the freq it is on when it does it is 154.5400.


I hope someone can answer this because it's really making me hate this scanner. I have a old 20 channel handheld scanner that 154.5400 comes in clear on it.

I did not hear interference. I heard a weak signal with noise in background because it was not "full quieting". The clicks are part of the two-way system to ID the unit to the dispatcher. 154.540 is a business band freq and must have been deregulated. Bottom line: A stronger signal should cover up and noise. I have the same scanner with PL tone finder and CTCSS board but mine is a Regency 1600. Post type of antenna and coax used. Maybe we could get another idea.

It sounds like interference to me.
154.5400 is a EMS freq here in Ontario
Antenna = ST2 Scantenna and the cable is 40 feet of RG-6

I have a old RadioShack Scanner that has no noise using the same antenna on the same freq.

OK. How close are you to tower on 154.540? Have you tried a smaller antenna? Could it be signal overload from too much antenna? Have you tried to program -.005 or +.005 That would be 154.535 or 154.545?

The tower is a fairly good distance away. You may be right that it is overloaded because it does work fine with just a rubber ducky antenna on my handheld.


I'll try the +/- tomorrow.
