well you can pick up the Birmingham apco25 system from the cottondale area, i haven't had any luck with the jeffco system. Actually there is this one small spot where you can hear bham. As you go down Skyland Blvd right before you get to I-20/59. It's really weird, that's the only place in town that you can pick it up lol.

Some Deputies that I worked with on a search and rescue couldn't hit the system with their HTs in the Graysville area.

They were using FRS radios for communications.

800 mhz. question

The Jefferson County 800 Mhz. Repeater for the Western End(Providence/Oak Grove) will not even reach to the Warrior River, so its doubtful you'd hear them any further...However you may have a streak of luck or skip and get them... :p Carl

I have recieved the JeffCo Providence (855.2125) repeater's traffic on both sides of the Warrior River well into northeastern Tuscaloosa County using a radio shack mag mount (modified to permanent mount) and a ham transciever with 800mhz out of band recieve. The antenna makes a pretty fair duel-band ham antenna as well.

The trunked system reaches parts of the eastern banks of the Warrior River on hilltops if good equipment is used.
