854.4875: Toms River Area?

9:08 tonight I started to pick up on this noise. I had it programmed because it was supposed to be one of the new GSP Maintenance frequencies after rebanding. I am getting some kind of noise on it, but strong and sporadically. It seems like a cross between a control channel and P25 modulation. Sorry, I do not know how to record scanner audio through my computer, so I cannot post a sampling. Anyone else in the central NJ area, tune this in and see if you can make sense of it. It is NOT P25, the 2096 produces the same noise as other conventional scanners.

Dave, it's most likely an input channel for the state trunked system, the new Parkway frequencies are in the 857.XXXX 858.XXXX area! Depending on where you live along the road are the ones you'll hear for maint and ops!

FYI: In the 800Mhz spectrum input channels are 45Mhz lower than the ouputs so its not an input channel.

I can pick that up here also. The signal varies in strength but it is very strong most of the time.

854.4875 is a NJ Transit data channel, pre-rebanding; 854.2875 is another NJT data channel. I haven't researched what, if any, impact rebanding will have on these frequencies.

I show the four new GSP channels as:
857.0875/151.4 "Maint-1"
858.0875/151.4 "Ops-2"
858.0375/151.4 "Maint-2"
857.0375/151.4 "Ops-1"

Frankly I don't know which is used for what -- if I'm driving the GSP then I unlock all four. Channel uses noted above are as per the database.
