If feeds are gonna continue to be taken down every time some nut case gets in a shootout, you might as well just take the whole site down. It is of no use to anyone if they cant use it when the fit hits the shan.

That has to be THE dumbest statement ever made. Do you really comprehend what is going on here?

Can anyone tell why their hasn't been a civil defense warning , or possibly law enforcement warning?? Or even local area emergency through DHS/NOAA???? They have these in place for things like this.

If I'm not mistaken, I think there has been some "reverse 911" calls going out. I might be wrong about that.

Are you in or near the affected area?

The media is proving once again that its more important for them to get ANY story/update/video out there before the other news station, and if/when it's NOT legitimate then it can seriously compromise an extremely sensitive incident and can result in safety of first responders being compromised.

Add in all of the same misinformation put out on social media and it just compounds the matter. Listening to an incident is one thing but if that information is given out within seconds or if given out improperly then it can result in what has happened here.

Not really, if you take into consideration that he, like a lot of us, are scanner hobbyists who listen to incidents like this without taking it any further. So it's out of frustration that a comment like that is made. What has greatly irritated me this time, are the ones who were listening to the Boston PD feed, and either were posting what they heard on social media, or the idiots at the mainstream media who were taking what they heard and reported it as news, especially the locations where the PD were working. They are the ones who forced the feeds to go down. It was not those of us who listen to things like this all the time. Had it not been for the news media and social media groupies, we'd still be listening, and phillydjdan would never have made that comment out of frustration, I suppose.

Local media as well as social media have done a great job in getting out information in this case as it relates to identifying the suspects. However, now that one of them is still alive and a multi state coordinated manhunt is in progress trying to locate him extreme caution needs to be imperative as to broadcasting sensitive information, like locations and videos. Media must use good judgement on what they put out there. In the race to be FIRST, it just does not help.

Certainly I support the idea of turning on a 20-40 minute delay for working high profile incidents. The fact of the people tweeting every single move might cause some officer safety issues but still we are here and we love to listen.

I agree with that, but they all crossed the line when they became one of the 134,000 listeners (where it stood the last time I checked before the feed was shut down) that were posting and broadcasting sensitive info to the public. Here's what I fear. Now that the cat is really out of the bag, so to speak, about scanner feeds, this will happen again the next time a similar incident occurs. All those people will flock to Broadcastify again, forcing feeds to get shut down again.

Reverse 911 was used [and some ignored]
State EMA used Ping4Alerts
State Highway Electronic Signs

and it's been on all the news since the 11pm news
All channels - Including National - TV and Radio

Everyone who is anyone knows - No need to use NOAA/NWS
because this is a Major Metropolitan Area and folks rely on TV/Radio vs Weather Radio Receivers

Sadly they DO NOT - it's the Self Gratification society, and I [and others] applaude the Feed Provider for removing the FEED until this is over.

And to those who thought it contained Tactical Channels, it did not.

We now return you to your Soap Operas, tune your TV's to Ch-1

That has to be THE dumbest statement ever made. Do you really comprehend what is going on here?

So the feeds have been made inaccessible at this time but does anyone know if they are still recording? In other words are we going to be able to get them on archives when it is all over?

Ok, apparently YOU dont have a clue. Taking a feed down will not eliminate the risk to public safety officials. Ok, now 60,000 idiots cant hear it. What about the 200 or so idiots that are listening locally and spreading the misinformation via facebook and twitter??? Remember, it only takes a couple idiots to spread gossip. Takingna feed down wont solve that.

I just confirmed with a cousin who lives just blocks from all of the action that both she and her boyfriend have been receiving texts and emails to stay indoors, and warnings about the controlled explosion at the suspect's apartment, etc.

She told me she signed up for the service originally so that she would be reminded of alternate street parking changes, so as to avoid tickets!

I've been monitoring Bapern 4--470.5625--131.8.. They have actually helped me tune my new mobile uhf antenna.. I hope they nail the terrorists. I'm surprised they are straight analog with 1 heck of a signal. Search 2-4-5 zones complete. Wow, what a mess.
