With that kind of communication, anyone who dares to do wrong will get justice handed to them. If the law dont get you, the public will! ,,A+ effort to all.

I don't think that LE can expect to have it both ways. If they want citizens to participate, then they citizens have to be able to hear what is going on and not just through the often wrong media.

If the police value secrecy so much, then they had better expect that the citizenry will do the same and we will have a closed society.

Awesome. When law enforcement works with such surgical precision, it is pretty impressive to witness. I would imagine the scanners were popping.

I wonder how this will be viewed by those in LE? According to HLN, people were tweeting what the heard on their online scanner application.

Keep things in the clear. I believe communities can help law enforcement when they listen to scanners and act responsibly. LE asked for people to send in their videos.

It does not have to get authorized since it isn't illegal.

When I posted this article, I also wondered whether real scanners were used. My oldest kid is away in school and he stated it's more likely streaming sites than real scanners. Kids where he is were listening on the streaming sites.

Let's just encrypt all LE traffic and kill this hobby once and for all. That way there will be no need for streaming audio and all civilians will be in the dark.

That is a valid option, but I'm surprised you would suggest that. In any case, I don't think it applies to this thread directly.

Haven't seen anyone talking about any Fed monitoring during this whole thing. I would assume all the FBI comms were encrypted but from the news I have seen most Fed agencies involved..ATF, USMS etc... anyone in the area pick up any new stuff?

Personally, I was too dumbfounded to scan-search. I had 1 scanner for every Bapern going. The only thing I got out of this is MORE brotherhood. If I wasnt 60 miles away,I'd've been there to support and search. Just for the record--the state of Maine, and everyone else had a silent moment today at 2:50. R.I.P, know that we will abollish terrorism, keep our freedom alive! Take care--BOSTON.. We're here for you. U S A U S A U S A ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
