• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

The keyfill device indeed works. Have one, use it. On various models. It is a open source project the creator made to stop the greed of one company charging ridiculous amounts for something simple like said you buy one loader and only have des on it.

It loads ADP, des, aes etc and listed. It is not a fake, not a flop.

A alternative to a kvl but hey some like to spend thousands for something simple.

Kinda reminds me of those who hate kenwood yet it does the same thing as Motorola minus dos.

There is still the T3011DX option, or any T3011 version plus the DX firmware upgrade.

Those KVL are probably cheap because they either 1) don't work, 2) are missing algorithms or 3) only have either ASN or Astro mode and not both.

Yup.. you're right Rescue161.. I take it due to my current flashcode, I have to have ASTRO and not ASN right?? I just got back from my VERY friendly Motorola dealer. Really good folks! Based on how much of a pain it seems to be to do a simple Flash upgrade or even a firmware upgrade to get me the ADP Software Encryption, I'm gonna go with getting a UCM for my Model 3 and then get the KFDtool keyloader. Not the cheapest way to go but at least I'll have control over how my radios are set up and can secure them... I just can't seem to find a way to get the ADP enabled on my Model 3... GRRRRRR..

Thanks to EVERYONE for all the help. I learn something new with each post and everyone that helped had a great attitude with giving me advice.. Well done to all!!!!

Yup.. I think I'm gonna go with that one.. at least with the open source one, I get ALL algos to use and if you say it works.. good enough for me!!! So all I need to do fills is the keyloader, 6 pin cord and the adapter.. anything else???

You'll need the hirose cable from the radio to the adapter. You'll need a actual keyloader adapter looks like a mic adapter for the xts

You may look around places and find used in great condition ones. I found one for about 25 bucks from a reputable dealer.

The cable

KFDTool is definitely the best route to go!

I can't say enough good things about Daniel D. and the KFD Tool I got. Worked flawlessly and made loading keys so easy. And at a fraction of the cost of a KVL. Once I got the device, I needed some help configuring my radio and he even helped me with that. HIGHLY recommend the KFDTool if you want to load keys into the radios his device supports!! Thanks to all on the forum that turned me on to his device!!!!

I had asked a friend about good prices on a KVL3000 and he pointed me to the KDF Tool today. After looking over some Youtube info and downloading the software, I just purchased one. Can't wait till it gets here so I can experiment on various radios.

You wont be sorry! The KFD Tool is awesome and super simple to use. Just follow his YouTube video on the set up and key loading sequence. As long as your radio is set up correctly to receive the keys, you're good to go.
