You're asking the wrong guy ;)

just helicopters
Filter by type description: H
2 turbine helicopters H2T
turbine helicopers with 1 or 2 engines:
H1T|H2T
or
H.T

The filters accept javascript regular expressions.

In the aircraft details Left of the icao type you'll see the type description.
L: landplane
S: seaplane
H: helicopter

number of engines

P: piston engine
T: turboprop engine
J: jet engine

I selected a US Sectional Chart overlay from the map layers icon, but can't figure out how to clear or deselect it. Help!

Did you try selecting another map type?
Map type? I'm able to change between charts, but can't determine how to get rid of the charts all together and return to the default map view I originally had.

I figured it out. I had to select "Open Street Map" under the "Worldwide" heading.

Still in the testing stage, so don't expect it to work perfectly.

Also expect some loading time, it will download around 50 MB of data.
Upside is you can zoom in and still get good detail.

For those of us uneducated newbies, what is this showing?

It's for showing the last 24h of positions received or some sort of represenation of that.

The colors are by altitude.
Best to filter by altitude on the right, then it might give more interesting pictures.
Check 10000 to 15000 or 15000 to 20000
Maybe check 30000 to 40000

@wiedehopf where do the air frame silhouettes come from?
Hi I would like to know too, then other day a medical helo that flies frequently and is in the database showed up as a large jet, might just be a bug? a few days later it went back to helo, strange. all the information was the same, just happy to have this resource, thanks

They made some major improvements over the past few days. The data population is nearly instantaneous now upon loading the tracking map. A very welcomed update!
