A few times recently I have heard what sounds like a police surveillance operation on TG 6405.
Has anyone else noticed?
I'm also hearing police surveillance activity on this channel and it seems they are working in Picture Butte right now. I am wondering if it’s possible that it could be Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) using this channel.

I am hearing what sounds like Park Rangers or Fish and Wildlife on 3143. They are talking about campers in the Beaver Mines and Castle Falls area. I have heard the same dispatcher talk about a traffic stop on the #1 Highway. I am only hearing one side of the conversation, so its pretty hard to figure out whom it may be.

3143 is the All Call/Fleet Call for Alberta Parks in the South. They have the Dispatch PRCC/ESO in the clear. You should see Agency 403 UID's when they transmit.
I get this group in Edmonton perhaps because PRCC is here.
Once PRCC makes contact with a CO or Conservation Officer on their local PRCC group the call is dispatched.

Hi guys

It's your neighbor from next door, you know, Saskatchewan.

I have several of questions for you guys.

1. Where are the dynamic regroups (patches) to be found in your data base? Your P25 system must utilize them.

2. Do you guys ever see anything like what is seen in my Unitrunker screenshot?

These are 3 link-radio IDs seen in use on the PPSTN.
There are several more like these in use.
We suspect that at least 3 others similar to these may be used to link the PPSTN to the AFRRCS.

When these patches are in use only the one RID is ever seen on the talk-group, as it is a link-radio connected to another link-radio on the other radio network, so those RIDs are never seen.

Your assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I would guess that the networks are linked via ISSI.

As for link radios back to back, what are they linking to?

Using back to back radios would be an incredibly stupid way to tie an AFRRCS talkgroup to a PPSTN talkgroup.

Don't think we have patch groups in the database. I've never logged them but from what I know they are SAID or Supergroups. They are in the 620XX range with 62097 as an example.

I've often wondered about the patches to Saskatchewan. With the RCMP I see four UID's when patched two for the Edmonton dispatch center and two for the Red Deer OCC.
RCMP K NAOCC 1 UID 4448000
RCMP K NAOCC 2 UID 4448001
RCMP K SAOCC 1 UID 4448002
RCMP K SAOCC 2 UID 4448003

Is PPSTN as Harris or Motorola System? AFRRCS is a Harris System.

Hi

The PPSTN is a Harris system.
I thought that the two systems both being Harris would most certainly be linked via the Harris IP network and not with old fashioned link radios that are used to link the PPSTN to the Manitoba Motorola system.

Two link radios are also used to connect RPS and RFD to the PPSTN.

From what I have seen so far Harris Super-group patches will usually begin with the HEX A4, as all 99 in use on the PPSTN do.

I am hoping that one of you guys running a trunker program will share when a SG patch is seen like the ones in the screenshot.

If patches are seen in use simultaneously on both systems that would be exactly what I would like to see.

Cheers

Hi, all

The attached zip file contains all of the super-group IDs that I believe are utilized by the AFRRCS.

Please have a look at it.

Cheers!

It should absolutely be possible to link them by IP, even if it's through the ISSI protocol. AFRRCS and the city of Calgary(Motorola) systems are linked via ISSI.

My guess is, laziness to be using subscriber radios to link these networks.
Two link radios are also used to connect RPS and RFD to the PPSTN.
I can't for the life of me understand why they would do this. The P25 spec has methods to link separate systems with out resorting to subscribers to facilitate it.
