Does anyone know the best way to hear PHI or Lifeline. I've seen CONV channels and 800. Not sure what they are using.

PHI on Safe-t talkgroup 5040. helicopters for St.Vincent's hospital are refered to as Dove 4, etc.Lifeline is using 155.160.You can also check the Indiana Database for Air Ambulance across the state. That will list the other frequencies you can listen to for activity in your part of the state.

Tones and dispatches for PHI does come accross the VHF channel. I don't know SAFE-T as I don't have a digital scanner.

Which VHF Channel? I have all the VHF channels prgramed into the Uniden BC 895XLT and all I hear is the helicopter going to Greenwood Airport for fuel.I do copy Lifeline of 155.160 base to helicopter and helicopter to base. All the Helicopter traffic I have been hearing is on 123.050 and 123.025.I am located just west of St.Vincents Hospital and I have helicopter traffic flying over the house all day long go west from the helicopter pad at the hospital.I hear all the traffic of Talkgroup 5040 on Safe-t and hear PHI talking to Dove flight which is PHI's helicopters. They have been heard as far south flying to Kentucky to pick up a patient. When they take off from St.V I hear them on 5040 on Safe-t.If they are not on VHF they are on safe-t on 5040. I can monitor VHF Med- air channels along with Safe-t at the same time in my communications center.

Med helos can apear on ANY frequency used by fire or ambulance, as well as on most trunked systems. If needed the pilot can program the radio enroute in order to use a system they don't normally use. So besides whats in the database keep in mind they can pop up on the above as well.

They are on VHF in the Southern part of the State and sometimes do come up on Safe-T as well. But the helicopters communicate with the local trauma center on VHF, and Dove/PHI use that frequency, and are dispatched on a 153 MHz frequency here as well.

That's where I normally hear them. For example, when the helicopters come to the Muncie area, they communicate with Delaware County EMS on DCEMS's VHF freq. I haven't heard them on SAFE-T here, but I'm sure they use it.

When they land in Madison County, they use Madison County Fireground 2 or 3, Smalltown Fire, or IHERN to coordinate landing with the FD.

Some helicopter operations are conducted on 800 MHz SAFE-T FlightWatch talkgroup

As mentioned in earlier post aviation band freqs are good to listen to as well. Both helicopter and downtown heliport unicom freqs. are active as well.

Enjoy.

Around 7pm on most nights, PHI Dove conducts a radio test on 153.0875 PL 156.7 for the unit at St.John's. Sometimes its later, but I think its scheduled for 7.

Looks like there is one control point. The 153.0875 is listed for a 24 mile radius of the transmitter site which is listed as Muncie. Thats if I'm reading the FCC info correctly.

Yes I understand that but 153.0875 is dead nothing heard in NW Marion County at 79Th and Michigan Road. Since PHI moved from St.vincent's where they are no longer staying on the pad all the time I hear nothing!!!!!All I hear is 153.515 and they are saying that they are heading to Greenwood Airport for Fuel...

I think 153.515 is an AirEvac LifeTeam frequency. I think they routinely get fuel at Greenwood. I think that is the remote transmitter in Indy going back to West Plains, MO.
