Airspy Discovery vs Mini

If your primary goal is monitoring HF (and maybe VHF), the Discovery. If your primary goal is monitoring VHF/UHF/700/800 and stuff like that, which a lot of us monitoring people on this forum do, the mini would be the better option.
Airspy R2 -- 10 msps (covers about 8 mhz of spectrum at once reliably) - best usage is VHF and above
AIrspy Mini -- 6 msps (covers about 5 mhz of spectrum at once reliably) - best usage is VHF and above
- of course you can use a Spyverter with these to take them down into HF
Airspy Discovery - It's not going to cover mhz of spectrum at once, but it's great on HF and is where most people use it (0.5 - 31 mhz)

If considering the Airspy R2, you may also look at HydraSDR.
I agree, but I didn't want to mention the two in the same sentence. I've always been a cheerleader for Airspy, but my last purchase was a HydraSDR and for whatever reason the noise floor on it appeared to be many DB lower (could have been just a great power cable with all of the choking). No problems with the HydraSDR RFOne.

I have several Minis and Hydras but no R2s so direct comparison is difficult, but for me the Hydras are the better RF performer in the 700Mhz band. SNR and jitter is better and the QPSK constellations are tighter, especially with marginal signals.

I am also interested, HF only, was also Considering the KiwiSDR? Anybody offering anything with 16bit that is especially good?
